Funny Bones

1995 såg jag filmen Funny Bones på Draken i göteborg. För de som inte sett den, så kan vi kalla den ett drama om komedi som utspelas i Blackpool.

Två veckor senare åkte jag till Blackpool, för så bra var filmen.

Blackpool är ungefär 200 Stenabåtar på en yta av Mölndal. Med lika många enarmade banditer, fast fler kameler, och ett torn nästan lika högt som Eiffeltornet -- med en 50 meter hög "Pepsi"-logga på.

Utsikten från tornet var klassiskt engelsk.

Neil Gaiman kan inte skriva manus:

Filmen är en bagatell, som enbart räddas av Stephanie Leonidas i huvudrollen som mänsklig och uttrycksfull Helena, samt nöjet av att se Dave McKeans vikta kartongbitar i 3D.

Bordellkontor

Min kollega Lorenz sa "ditt rum ser ut som en bordell".

Vadååååå? Bara för att jag hittade en giraffmönstrad beanbag på Mio? Fast jag hävdade bestämt att mönstret var leopard och att säcken inte alls hade formen av en giraff. Hur hade det sett ut, om jag cyklat tillbaka från affären med en giraff på ryggen?

Det är klart, kombinationen orange sockerbitslampa, beanbag, lysdiodskylt och radiostyrd helikopter kanske är bordell, eller så saknar jag helt enkel smak. Oklart. Uppenbart är iaf att jag har en 36-årskris, som jag måste meddela världen om.

BTW, jag har gått med i piratpartiet. De vräker ut mailutskick på en, allt av god vilja, men organisation i "autonoma celler" tycker jag har en extremt dålig klang.

Skyltnedtagning

På Odinsgatan i Göteborg skruvade flitiga hantverkare ned stora IT-bolagsneonskyltar. Symboliken är nästan övermäktig, men vi uppmanas inte vara oroliga. Nästa vecka kommer säkert nya, fina skyltar upp, dock i andra färger och med andra namn.

Tyvärr var de för tunga att bära med sig hem, fast jag var väldigt lockad. Precis som jag har ex-baren Milleniums nedräkningsskylt nedpackad i garderoben. Kommer ni ihåg den?

Horrible! There are no system settings for enabling sound pass-thru from the built in sound input on the new Intel Mac minis.

No, the midi settings do no longer work.

Yes, the LineIn utility from Rogue Amoeba works, but still, this is just really annoying.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen vol II vs War of the Worlds

As some of you might have noticed, the movie adaption of Alan Moore's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen vol I, stunk. Really. (the comic itself was OK, but not great)

However, timed with Spielberg's bombastic War of the Worlds, I really must recommend the comic



The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen vol II

available from DC.

This is simply the best adaption of Well's War of the Worlds I have ever seen. The characters now has real depth and the plot twists and turns in a reality almost-but-not-identical-to-what-you-imagined.

Even the previously kind of annoying Jekyll/Hyde now is believable and nasty bordering on scary. The graphics are suitable dark, and there are dialogue you can read over and over and over.

And it has an ending that once and for all proves mankinds supremacy, in the most evil way ever imagined.
